Select the application and click Force Quit. Hold down the Option and Command keys, then press the Esc key. Try to force problem applications to quit. Then try to cancel what the computer is doing. Make sure the mouse and keyboard are connected by unplugging and then plugging in the connectors and make sure they are secure. Select the Mac OS X System as your startup disk.Click the triangle next to the hard disk that contains your operating system folders.
